White House Corrects Rate Of Uninsured After Error Is Pointed Out.

By admin

PolitiFact Share to FacebookShare to Twitter (4/5/16 Jacobson) reports the President “celebrated the sixth anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act” by taking a “victory lap on Medium,” where he said the rate of uninsured Americans is at 8.8 percent. PolitiFact adds it “found some discrepancies” with that number, and after telling the White House – “but before we were able to publish our fact-check – the White House made a change to the text of the Medium post and noted that a correction had been made.” PolitiFact credits the White House “for correcting its post based on our inquiry, even before we could publish our fact-check,” but says “we put claims to the Truth-O-Meter based on their original form, and in this case, Obama, despite being close to accurate, jumped the gun by shaving off a few tenths of a percentage point before they officially materialized,” a claim it rates as “Half True.”
